Well, here you go collectors. I have no paperwork to back up the family story but it goes like this... my grandmother, Clarice Bunker, was the private nurse to Mary Kimball Penney. back then they were called "Golden Rule" stores. After Mary passed, Clarice was given by James Cash Penney their wedding crystal, the silverware, this Edison Diamond Disc Victrola, and other items as wedding presents when she married my grandfather in Casper, WY. Then JCP took off to his newly built mansion in Miami. Each grandkid got an item when she passed and I got the Victrola when I was 18 and lived in Billings, MT.I've moved this Edison Diamond Disc 250 everywhere my career took me over the past 40 years. The cabinet has some minor scratches that disappear with furniture polish but it still works and sounds great. Here's a YouTube video link to see and hear it... https://youtube.com/shorts/gy8LwvDD06I?feature=share
So... the cabinet is in good condition as is the drawer. 30+ 2-sided diamond discs which are fun to play and time-travel back 100 years. The lid and hinge are good but the arm that holds up the lid needs to be manually "caught" as the pin is missing. It's a beautiful, function conversation piece that plays music! Still has the original fabric.
We are downsizing massively and moving to FL and all our kids live in Chicago, Nashville, Tucson and think it's cool but not worth the road trip. Selling all of our art, antiques, antique canoe, etc. on eBay.
It measures 51" high by 21" wide by 22" deep. Even if you don't buy the story, it's a cool antique and needs a new home.
