    Description

We are selling a large Cunard Steamships Co. Ltd. Ocean Liner Silver (Plate) Soup Tureen. It is bearing the crest of the British and North American Royal Mail Steam Packet Company, known later as the Cunard Steamship Co. Ltd.
The tureen also has Elkington marks as shown in the photos. These markings will help to date the item.
The tureen does not have a lid nor a ladle. Just the tureen as shown in the photos.
It was likely an item used for first class passengers when it was made. As it became used and started to look less perfect it may have moved down to 2nd then 3rd class and then possibly have become a Mess Hall item.
The tureen looks the way a lot of old ship or restaurant silver looks - wear commensurate with age.
It has the crest on both sides of the tureen. I have tried to photograph these to show you the condition.
Good Condition with patina and signs of use. Solder marks on the bottom partially covers the Elkington Hallmarks.
See Photos of Hallmarks. The tureen needs a little cleaning if you wish to take off some of the patina or if you want to use it for soup. We have not done much if anything to clean the inside of the tureen. We have polished a little on the exterior in order to photograph the crest.
Measures 16" wide x 7-1/2" high x 10" deep (front to back at the top)
It is a true soup tureen, not a smaller vegetable bowl.
In the last photo you see a silver foil label and a certificate. Both of these paper items came with the soup tureen when we purchased it. The papers are included in this listing. It is not 100% clear what the connection to our tureen is but maybe you will figure it out.
