Black Amethyst plinths very popular in the
1910-30's.
Several companies created them for their higher end art glass lines including Beaumont, Cambridge, Co-Operative Flint, Dugan-Diamond, Fenton, Imperial and Tiffin. Most are difficult (if not impossible) to determine a manufacturer though there are subtle differences on some designs which can help. This piece has a raised collar between the rest and three feet and is sometimes called a "high plateau". The high plateau style are commonly found with Co-Operative Flint, Dugan-Diamond and Tiffin Glass pieces. Most Dugan-Diamond plinths are vertical above the feet compared to Co-Op and Tiffin's which are indented. This piece has an intend above the feet indicating it's likely a Tiffin or Co-Op piece.
