    Description

    1946 ad
    maiden voyage of the
    Queen Elizabeth
This is a rare full-page magazine advertisement published in 1946. It measures 10 x 14 inches in size and is in fine condition.
It announces the beginning of transatlantic service on board the Cunard Line’s famed ocean liner, the Queen Elizabeth. Although the ship had first gone to sea in 1940, her early years had been spent as a troopship during World War II.
The text of the ad says:
“Proud heir to that Cunard tradition of seamanship and service which is more than a century old, the Queen Elizabeth is now en route to New York on her maiden voyage. Released from war’s grim compulsions, she emerges in her new dress . . . the world’s largest liner . . . bringing to the world again all the pleasures of sea-travel, all the long-missed luxury and
    dependability
    of the transatlantic crossing.”
