Description
The photographer who captured this spectacular image of Jimi Hendrix was Elliott Landy, who is best known for his iconic photographs from the 1960’s classic rock and roll period. Hebegan photographing the anti-Vietnam-war movement, the underground music culture and many of the rock and roll superstars. His images of Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and many others documented the music scene which culminated with the 1969 Woodstock Festival, of which he was the official photographer.
Purchased directly from Experience Hendrix, L.L.C., this professionally framed Jimi Hendrix Montserrat stamp commemorates the volcano relief efforts granted to the people of the small Caribbean Island, Montserrat, during its two year volcano crisis. A Certificate of Authenticity is provided that is signed “Copyright Authentic Hendrix, LLC 1997” with the following: “Jimi Hendrix will always be a significant and memorable figure in the ‘World of Music’. Because of his notability the Government of Montserrat has immortalized his image on an official government issued postage stamp. Approved by Queen Elizabeth II, each stamp bears her royal cipher. This is a fully licensed limited edition.”
The top quality black metal frame consists of acrylic glass, window and mat boards, backing board, corner brackets with screws and four spring clips, measuring 10-1/4” wide x 8-1/4” high x ¾” thick and the visible image measures 4-3/4” wide x 3-1/4” high. There are no apparent scratches or damages to the acrylic glass which protected this beautiful piece of art and the frame is in excellent vintage condition. This amazing piece of rock and roll history would be a great addition to any Jimi Hendrix collection.
