For your consideration is a splendid 1902 Edison Model A  Home 2-minute cylinder phonograph record player with 14" horn. If you have been looking for a wonderful Banner Front Edison, consider this particularly fine example.
This machine features an excellent 119 year old green-tinted shellac finish along with an original Edison banner decal. Of particular note is the addition of a period brass top frame lock and some potential evidence of a listening rail perhaps once mounted to the top frame. Maybe the original owner was an exhibitor who wanted to make sure the motor was locked away from curious hands?
The mirror-like original black japanned cast iron bedplate and topworks retains most of it's fragile original gilt pin striping, and the original nickel plating on the mandrel is like new.
This Home's expertly-serviced motor is strong and just about silent and easily plays through a couple cylinders with a full winding. The motor utilizes a new top-of-the-line Wyatt Markus leather belt, the best belting on the market today.
This phonograph comes with it’s original early Model C 2-minute reproducer. It has an excellent stylus and original stepped mica diaphragm. New diaphragm gaskets have been carefully installed and the reproducer tuned for optimal performance.
The Edison includes a pristine 14" black and brass horn of recent manufacture which compliments the fine state of preservation of the
phonograph
.
Included with this Home are two lovely 2-minute cylinders, one early Black Wax and one celluloid ( early plastic). With these cylinders you can enjoy this phonograph right out of the box. This phonograph will safely play all standard-sized 2-minute Black Wax and celluloid cylinders. There are also countless hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of black wax and celluloid cylinders available on Ebay and probably in local antique shops.
